How Thayer Gives Back to the Community

Thayer & Associates recognizes the importance of giving back to our community. This isn’t limited to just through our property community services or ensuring that our clients have the resources they need to give their tenants high-quality service. We also give back by donating to and sponsoring several charitable and non-profit organizations.

The Phoenix

The Phoenix is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a sober active-fitness community for those recovering from substance abuse. They organize fitness events like rock climbing, cycling, weightlifting, and more. There are also classes people can sign up for, such as yoga and CrossFit. The entry fee? A mere 48 hours of sobriety.

Events and classes hosted by the Phoenix are free to all members; not just those in active recovery. That’s because these events do more than just give participants an outlet and something to focus on instead of addictive substances. They offer the participants a sense of community and give them a supportive network. That’s the real key to maintaining sobriety – finding a supportive community that will help you rise up. This is why they keep the events free to members, and why donations from both individuals and businesses are vital to keeping them available to all who need them.

The Pegasus House

Established in 1985, the Pegasus House is a residential treatment center for young adults dealing with addiction. Located in Lawrence, MA, they provide comprehensive alcohol, opioid, and other drug treatment to females ages of 18-25. The house provides residents with a safe place with a structured social environment designed to aid in recovery, self-help skills, and well-being.

The services that the Pegasus House offers are intended to address substance abuse among young adults and provide treatment and recovery support so they can get back on their feet. They help them develop the skills necessary to function in the community, as well as promoting education and employment skills. Substance abuse isn’t easy to navigate alone, so group counseling and family sessions are offered, as well as aftercare and ongoing recovery planning for after discharge.

All of this, along with medical treatments and mental health aid, is why donations to the Pegasus House are so vital. It keeps the organization going so they can continue to offer young adults in recovery a second chance.

MSPCA-Angell

Having been first founded just after the Civil War, MSPCA-Angell is one of the first humane organizations in the United States. They’ve helped make massive changes in today’s society for the sake of animal welfare and the environment. They’ve helped make laws and set standards that have shaped our sense of kindness and care for animals.

On the ground level, they also care for animals directly. Over 100 veterinarians, including 46 board-certified specialists, work together to provide safe, compassionate, state-of-the-art care at their animal hospitals. On top of that, serve the human and animal community every way they can. They offer pet training programs, spay and neutering services, and adoption services. Their community outreach programs work to keep people and their pets together, working with local food pantries to supply pet food to pet owners in four of Massachusetts’ most underserved communities.

MSPCA-Angell is a non-profit that does not receive any funding from state or federal agencies. That’s why it achieves its mission through donations both big and small.

It’s important to give back to our community. We at Thayer & Associates recognize the value of these three organizations and do our best to aid them in their missions.
